Beauty on Fern | bridal makeup artist

There are some crafty ways to save a bit of cash when planning your wedding, but you definitely don’t want to skimp on your bridal makeup artist! Getting your makeup done for your wedding kind of falls into the same boat as your wedding photography… you want someone who is experienced and professional, otherwise you’ll end up looking like an Oompa Loompa!!

Beauty on Fern definitely ticks all the boxes. Deborah is a true artist, and her stunning salon on the main street of Gerringong just oozes charm and tranquility.

But that’s enough from me… here’s Deborah to tell you about what she does best .

Beauty on Fern – with Deborah

Tell us about Beauty on Fern in a nutshell

Giving exceptional service is of utmost importance to me!

I provide bridal services from start to finish. I’m also able to help brides plan skin care and a nutritional regime 12 months prior to their wedding to encourage healthy glowing skin for the wedding day. The salon is an ideal location for a Hen’s party where they can come and have specialised treatments, catered lunch and readings.

I also have experienced Makeup & Hair technicians available for mobile or in-salon services.

How long have you been doing this for?

I have been in the beauty/bridal industry for 20 years or more, through that time I have seen many changes and styles. But some things remain the same, and that is the excitement and anticipation of the wedding day.

What do you like best about the South Coast?

No doubt the beautiful scenic views! We have the best of both worlds, the gorgeous beaches and countryside, and so many quality venues for weddings.

What do you enjoy most about the weddings?

There are so many aspects to creating a beautiful wedding, I would say it’s the creativeness and imagination that goes behind bringing a bride and groom’s dream together.

What’s the funniest moment you’ve experienced at a wedding?

We did a wedding quite some time ago in Kangaroo Valley, it was rather a large bridal party (bride plus 6 bridesmaids). We were crammed into a shoebox size room, with Megan and I at the (very narrow) side of the bed at either end – Megan doing hair, me doing makeup, and bridesmaids climbing over the bed to get to us! But it all turned out perfectly  .

Do you get involved in more than just the wedding day itself?

Yes! My salon takes group bookings for hens functions – we are able to provide beautiful treatments and lunch. I generally tend to book the salon out to bridal groups. I also do nails and spray tans.

Are there any other wedding vendors you work closely with and highly recommend?

Megan Cox Hair Design, Mel at Elka’s Garden and Jon Harris Photography. (Thanks Deb!)

What are some words you’ve heard happy customers use to describe Willow Farm?

Caring, nurturing, professional, attention to detail  .

Weddings are pretty seasonal… are there any promotions or better value you can offer couples in the off-peak season?

My off season is from June to September, I have in past offered a 20% discount.
