Kullindi Homestead Wedding | Dani + Andrew
Before I go on to tell you about the stunning bush wedding of Dani and Andrew, it’s important to first point out that those of you who have been following my work for a while now will know that Booderee National Park and the surrounding area holds a very special place in my heart. Before I took up photography full time I worked for Parks Australia, and have spent a lot of time photographing all around that area. In a nutshell – I really LOVE this place.
So when Dani and Andrew told me that they would be saying ‘I do’ at Kullindi Homestead (directly across the water from Sussex Inlet), I was excited to say the least! Combining my love of intimate weddings, the beautiful National Park and outdoor adventures, these guys quickly had me sold
With Dani hailing all the way from Southern Canada in a beautiful place called Saskatoon (a word I find very fun to say), a bunch of the couple’s guests had made the journey over to Aus to celebrate with her and Andrew. This was something really special to see, how love can make something like crossing an ocean seem so insignificant. #ilovemyjob
It was a beautiful ceremony, with a very natural and laidback feel to it. A couple of unexpected but very welcome guests popped up here and there throughout the day – some cheeky kookaburras and a wallaby or two.
Kullindi, a private homestead nestled in a beautifully untouched pocket surrounded by Booderee, is such a gorgeous place for a wedding, and it suited this couple so well. It was a beautiful ceremony, with a very natural and laidback feel to it. A couple of unexpected but very welcome guests popped up here and there throughout the day – some cheeky kookaburras and a wallaby or two. My guess is that the Saskatooners loved this part.
Andrew was affectionately referred to as Goat (his surname is Kidd) throughout the day which was pretty funny to watch/hear when the afternoon became a fun garden party of lawn games. Occasionally I would hear someone yell ‘Oi, Goat!’ and me not twigging to it would look around in puzzlement waiting for some more wildlife to frolic on by… no, Jon.
A few friendly kicks of the soccer ball resulted in a full blown match with guys, girls and kids all getting involved. Nothing could slow it down – even when the ball was kicked into the water, a friendly fisherman motored over and netted up the ball, saving at least one of the guests from stripping off to retrieve the ball.
All in all, a really lovely day with a beautifully chilled-out atmosphere. My kind of wedding and the ones I love to shoot most!
Dani & Goat, I wish you a long life of love, health and happiness together. Thank you for allowing me and my camera to be a part of your beautiful day!
