Mountain Ridge New Year’s Eve Wedding | Pip + Tom

After having shot a couple of weddings now at the beautiful Mountain Ridge Wines, it has become a venue that I am not only familiar with, but really love to see filled with happy hearts. So when owners and all-round-legends Pip and Tom asked me to be a part of their special day, I was totally rapt because I knew it was going to be a wedding like I have never seen before at this place.

A couple of key factors about this wedding stood out to me. Firstly, it was New Year’s Eve. So right from the beginning, the atmosphere was great. Secondly, it was clear that it was important to Pip & Tom that their guests (and staff!) enjoy their wedding as much as them. Something that made this particularly apparent was how the couple had planned for each couple or family to each plant a young tree and individually named plaque on their property in between the ceremony and reception. I mean, how often do you see wedding guests all frocked up, and digging in the dirt?! Everyone loved it. That, right there, is a true South Coast wedding.

The bridesmaids wore blush-pink, and the groomsmen shades of navy blue and beige – with the best man Tim in his full British Military uniform – very striking! The ceremony was held on a beautiful area of their property that was very open and had a postcard backdrop of Coolangatta Mountain…making my job very easy! Speaking of my job, being chauffeured around in a Land Rover series 1 (one of the three Land Rovers on the property) to get post-ceremony portraits was something that I could certainly get used to! Thanks Tom

Pip and Tom. Their love for each other is another of those key factors that stood out to me I was telling you about earlier, and the most significant at that. Throughout the entire day, there were so many moments where I would turn my gaze to them and they would be looking at one another, smiling, and both so clearly knowing what the other was thinking. As someone who has to fight back tears at weddings quite often, these guys definitely challenged me. When it came to speech time, Tom shared a really touching message. After the recent passing of his Mother, he reminded us all of how important it is to love and appreciate those nearest and dearest to you, and urged us all to make sure that we tell them. Profound.

Like me, the guests felt the sincerity of the day, and it all just flowed from one lovely moment to another… Among these guests were some very gorgeous pooches I might add, something that I always love to see! All in all, a very special wedding, and one that I consider myself very lucky to have been a part of.

Thank you Pip and Tom for inviting me to be a part of your very special New Year’s Eve wedding. I had so much fun. Your love is great and I wish you both every good thing!
